Your Love Story…
We first met at a bar in Melbourne. I was out with my friends and Kurt was out with his friends. Not long after me and my friends arrived we walked outside and that is when I first laid on eyes on Kurt. I knew straight away I wanted to talk to him. I looked over at Kurt and there he was looking at me. It didn’t take Kurt long to walk over and sit down next to me and make conversation. We spent the rest of the night getting to know each other and from that night on we were pretty much inseparable. 7 Months later we moved in together.
Then came the proposal. We had been together for 3 years and like every girl I had been nagging Kurt for a ring for forever. It was New Year’s Eve and we were at our holiday house by the river in Echuca with family and friends. It was just about time to start counting down to the new year when very unexpectedly Kurt grabbed my hand and walked me out onto the grass in front of roughly 25 people and got down on one knee.
Everyone was in the middle of counting down to the end of 2014 as Kurt was asking me to be his wife! It was perfect.
Destination Wedding…
I had always wanted a wedding by the beach. I wanted a wedding that would continue on for another few days surrounded by family and friends on a holiday all together.
I found Villa Botanica online the day after I got engaged and knew straight away that’s where I had to get married. The best part about a destination wedding is that it is small and intimate. You are on a holiday with your closest friends and family for days before and after the wedding. It was just amazing.
The Whitsundays…
When we found Villa Botanica online I showed my mum straight away and said I’m booking it, I have to! My Mum said we had to fly there to go and look at it first in person before we book it. So that’s what we did. A couple of months later myself, Kurt my Mum, Dad and brother all got on a plane to go and visit Villa Botanica and the Whitsundays. That was the first time I had ever seen the Whitsundays.
Wedding Week…
We arrived at the Whitsundays on the Monday and our wedding was on the Friday. We spent our days with friends and family going out for dinner and lots of drinks!
Kurt and I went jet-skiing with Whitsunday Jetski Tours with our friends which was just amazing.
Brides Vision…
My theme was always going to be white or neutral . I thought white would be just perfect by the beach. I’m not one to like a lot of colours so that suited us just fine and it looked unreal!
Kurt chose a beautiful navy blue suit with a white bowtie and I chose a lacy white low back dress. My dress was amazing! It fit my body perfectly. The white together looked just amazing. I love yellow gold jewelry and that it is what I wear everyday so I chose to just wear that on our wedding day and it matched perfectly. I wore one of my sisters rings and her wedding earrings, they were my borrowed items.
Sit Down or Cocktail…
We had 30 guests attend and we chose cocktail. We wanted a small wedding with only close family and friends.
We chose a cocktail wedding because we wanted it to be more like a party.
We are very relaxed chilled out couple and this suited our personality way more. It gave everybody the chance to dance and mingle with everyone.
Honeymoon Heaven…
We went to the USA. We flew into Los Angeles first and stayed there for 6 nights then we got in the car and drove to Las Vegas where we partied every night for 8 nights!
Splurge Vs Save…
We definitely splurged on our honeymoon. Yes the wedding was expensive, but in our eyes everything was reasonably priced. We wanted to have an amazing honeymoon and not worry about the cost of anything and that’s exactly what we did.
Whitsunday Wedding Venue…
Villa Botanica is AMAZING!! When I first laid eyes on it I just knew that was it.
I was petrified to plan a destination wedding but they made is so easy. They had an online planning system and we had our very own wedding co-ordinator Tanya who made it all a breeze.
Villa Botanica are just amazing. From the first phone call they were perfect. The venue had everything we wanted. Privacy, a lot of food for my guests, alcohol all night for everyone. It had everything we wanted. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
