Your Love Story…
Brendan and I met at high school. He asked me to be his girlfriend three times before I gave in and said yes!
The Whitsundays…
We lived in Bowen before we were engaged and were both raised in North Queensland, so we had visited the Whitsundays many times before. We loved the natural beauty of the area and its super relaxed vibe which was the exact atmosphere we wanted for our wedding.
Wedding Week…
We stayed in Airlie Beach the night before and after our wedding. Airlie Beach has so much amazing restaurants and we ate out at many of them before and after our wedding with our bridal party and guests.
Whitsunday Wedding Venue…
If I’m completely honest it was Cyclone Debbie that led us to holding our wedding at Lure. Brendan and I are organised people and had booked our initial reception venue two years before our wedding. Fast forward to March 2017 and Cyclone Debbie arrived in the Whitsundays leaving behind significant damage to many homes and businesses, including our initial reception venue. Three weeks out from our wedding and we had no longer had a reception venue. How lucky we were that Lure was available on our date, and we snapped up their opening in a second. I couldn’t have been happier with the service we received from the staff at Lure. Lure is such a spectacular venue, the view is stunning and the building itself is modern and elegant. As it was the wind played havoc with our initial ceremony location plans and we ended up holding our ceremony at Lure too. It was clearly meant to be.
Sit Down or Cocktail…
We had 92 guests and had a sit down dinner. We always intended on having a sit down dinner, as we really liked the idea of our guests catching up and sharing a meal and drink together.
Wedding Day Vision…
Our style was intimate, relaxed, earthy and elegant. We used lots of neutral colours, rose gold and some pink pastels and native flowers within our bouquets and buttonholes. We featured lots of greenery with white roses and candles.
Memorable Moments…
It sounds cheesy but we really can’t pick our favourite parts of the day, the whole day was absolutely perfect. I felt like I laughed all day! We both laughed the most during the speeches and the photos with our bridal party. I thought I’d cry during the ceremony but somehow I managed to hold it in. The water works turned on though during our photographer’s slideshow during the reception, I loved that we could both see how the day went and share it with our guests. This was definitely a highlight of our day for both of us.
Brides Wisdom…
Don’t stress the small stuff, it all works out perfectly on the big day (even if there’s a cyclone three weeks out from the day!).
We were very organised in our planning which proved to be useful given our last minute venue change, but it also made for an otherwise stress-free week leading up to our wedding.
If there’s one thing you invest in, make sure it’s your photographer / videographer. After the big day is said and done, photos and videos are all you have to reminisce on the best day of your life.
