Love Story…

We meet in Mount Isa on Melbourne Cup Day and we had been together 7 years when we got engaged. Will took me away for the weekend to Magnetic Island where he took me on a picnic to a secluded beach and asked me to marry him. We had an 18 month engagement.

Destination Wedding…

We chose a destination wedding as it provided us and our guests the opportunity to have a holiday as well as attend our wedding. Also Airlie beach was our first holiday destination as a couple.

Wedding Week…

We stayed for 6 days. We did not do any specific activities we just spent time with family and friends.

Brides Vision…

We did not have a particular theme however we wanted a stylish but relaxed wedding.  The main colours we used were pink, gold and blue throughout the ceremony and reception and we used the same styling for the entire wedding from the invites through to the menus. My dress was vintage/romantic style with a sweetheart neckline and a lace overlay embellished with crystals and pearls. The groom and groomsmen wore navy blue suits and the bridesmaids and flowergirls wore matching dresses in slightly different shades of pink

Sit Down or Cocktail…

We had 50 guests for a sit down dinner. We did not want a large wedding so we limited the numbers to 50 and we liked the idea of a sit down dinner rather than cocktail style.

Honeymoon Heaven…

We went to Vegas and Hawaii.

Hens & Bucks…

My sister arranged a fantastic hens night in Airlie Beach. We started off with dinner and drinks at Fish D’vine and Rum Bar and then went onto Mama Africa’s to dance the night away. The bucks night started at Mika Live BBQ and bar and finished at Magnums.

Splurge vs Save…

We splurged on the actual venue for the ceremony and reception and saved on things like invites, the seating plan and other signs for the ceremony and reception.

Whitsunday Wedding Venue…

We wanted an outdoor beach wedding with a view and when we saw the Coral Sea Resort we knew it was exactly what we were looking for. The resort offered great wedding packages and options for both the ceremony and reception and Sharon, the resorts wedding planners was fantastic to work with.

Whitsunday Wedding Suppliers…

As we were not from the area we did not know which suppliers were available so I found most of them online. We were very happy with the services provide by each supplier.  We were particularly impressed with our photographer Debbie from Tropix Photography as she captured every moment of our special day.
