Laura and Ashleigh // Engagement Shoot
What a momentous effort Laura and her conspirator Vanessa Dale from Fancy Photos went to in organising this styled photoshoot that become the setting of a very special proposal.
Usually on an engagement shoot the photographer remains hidden ready to capture the moment in complete surprise. However Laura and Ash were models for Fancy Photos a year ago and so together Laura and Vanessa decided that a photo shoot to promote a new product would be the best way to disguise the proposal and capture some incredible images.
The end result was some of the most heartfelt and spectacular Whitsunday images we have ever seen thanks to the pure love these ladies share and the amazing new “Naked Teepee” by Teepeevents Whitsundays.
Congratulations Ash and Laura, we wish you a lifetime of happiness together and cannot wait to see the wedding photos!

Your Love Story…I had bought the ring a few months before I proposed, but wasn’t rushing into it. I wanted it to be the perfect moment for her.I messaged Vanessa from Fancy Photos who we had done a previous ‘Love is Love’ photoshoot with Kylie McIntosh – Wedding Celebrant to discuss some ideas. She was so excited and suggested some ideas, but it came down to planning a mock up photoshoot.Ash and I met through mutual friends a few years ago. Ash lived in Bowen with her dad whilst studying her university degree and I live in Mackay. We were properly introduced at a night out in Mackay at the end of 2015. We were talking for hours (literally until the sun came up). From that night on we were inseparable – texting, talking, doing the long distance thing from Mackay to Bowen weekly/anytime we had spare between work and uni really. Ash finished uni mid-2017 and moved in with me here in Mackay.We started the photoshoot at the Whitsunday Marine Club, with Ash suspecting nothing. About 20 minutes into the shoot Vanessa gave me a few hand signals to say ‘go for it’. So I grabbed Ash’s hand and got down on one knee. Ash was speechless. She said YES!This wasn’t a real photoshoot, this was all for you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, will you be my wifey?
Why the Whitsundays….Vanessa and I chose the Whitsunday Marine Club for the beautiful view, but also because Ash’s sister got married there three months before so we thought it would be a nice family feel to it all.We have already decided, when we do get married, to book at the Whitsunday Marine Club for the ceremony and reception.
