Pre and Post Activities: We dined at Sorrentos Restaurant and Bar the night before the wedding … amazing and La TaBella was also amazing. We couldn’t fault any food we had anywhere in Airlie Beach.
Your Love Story
We met in our hometown, Cundletown. After growing up in the same town all our lives and only meeting each other as adults through a mutual friend! I already had 2 small children and Jay took them under his wing and loved them too. We hit it off straight away and never looked back.
The Proposal
Jay proposed to me at Whitehaven Beach which was a massive surprise and only having spent 3 days there.. We thought getting married at Airlie would be a perfect way!
Hens and Bucks
My girlfriends organised a “Huddle and Graze” a few months prior to our wedding. It was held at a beach in Port Macquarie headland.. with beautiful persian style rugs laid out on the grass, cushions for guests to sit on and a peacock chair, with loads of delicious food set up on pallets along the grass.
My husband had a surprise bucks with all his friends and family at our local tavern.
Whitsunday Wedding Venue
We wanted a small intimate wedding, with a honeymoon at the same time.
We chose Boat Haven because it looked stunning, peaceful and we just love the blue water and boats in the background!
We chose Lure for the view and for the fact that we could get our boat in somewhere close after the ceremony as Lure are placed by the Marina. Stunning! Lure is very classy.
Wedding Day Vision
We went after a laid back semi-boho theme. I love lace so we had mine and my daughter’s dress made by a designer from Byron Bay… “FAIRTALE”. I designed my dress from top to bottom, I hand picked the lace and created the style for the dressmaker. My daughter wore light musk pink lace off the shoulder gown and my husband and son worse navy suits.
I absolutely love the King Protea in our bouquets so this matched in well with Charlottes dress being pink. I feel like the greenery and flowers.. the decor and dark wooden chairs all matched in beautifully with our choice of colours.
Sit Down or Cocktail?
We had 17 guests in total, we had a 11am ceremony at the beach, Sundowner Cruises took us on a cruise to Lure after the ceremony and lunch was served around 1:30pm.
It was perfect as we did have a few little children invited so this was great as they weren’t bored or tired. We also chose a day time wedding because we didn’t want to waste the beautiful view from our balcony at Lure.
The blue water and yachts gets us every time!
Honeymoon Heaven
We wanted a family holiday as we hadn’t had one in years.
We stayed for 2 weeks for the first 8 days at Pinnacles Resort. It was just pure perfection. We absolutely loved that place. And so did our family!
We then stayed for the rest of the time at Big 4 Adventure Whitsundays to treat the kids.
We also sailed over to Whitehaven Beach for a day. It was so memorable. Best holiday we have ever had!
Splurge Vs Save
We splurged on the Sundowner Cruise. We both felt as though we definatley wanted this addition to our wedding day. And it was a great decision as it was so memorable and the day was stunning weather wise!
