Your Love Story…

Lachy and I met on a blind date set up by our friend. We clicked right away because of our mutual love for food and travel. We fell in love and on a trip to Hawaii lachy popped the question on the sunset dinner cruise at Waikiki.

Destination Wedding…

We loved that our friends and family could enjoy the weekend as a short holiday. Many of our guests extended their stay to enjoy Airlie beach and the Islands.

The Whitsundays…

We live in Mackay so we had visited many times as it is a great weekend getaway for us.

Wedding Week…

We stayed a few days after the wedding and just relaxed at Peppers Airlie Beach.

Wedding Day Vision…

Lachy and I both love the seaside so we chose a romantic nautical theme. We chose navy, peach and gold as our feature colours to add a richness to lures crisp whites and timber features. We used florals to add softness and romance. I chose a mermaid shape dress with a soft ruffle skirt. The skirt reminded me of gentle waves on a calm day and with the dress’s light gold colour, delicate lace and subtle beading it had a very romantic feel. It was perfect. We topped off the day with a sunset sail for our bridal party on the Providence V. Our guests watched us from the balcony at Lure as they enjoyed the sunset with drinks and canapés.

Sit Down or Cocktail…

We had 100 guests for a 7 course banquet. Lachy and I are foodies so we wanted our guests to enjoy a special dining experience with us on our  big day. The food was amazing! We arranged for speeches in between courses and had the last course of wedding cake and assorted cheeses and fruit served as canapés so everyone could dance and mingle after our first dance as husband and wife.

Splurge vs Save…

We spent a good deal of our budget making sure our guests had an amazing day too by putting on the banquet and drinks all night. Another thing we spent a little extra on was our photography and the sunset sail for the bridal party. These things really made our day unforgettable so we would do it all exactly the same if given the chance to do it all again.

We did save on décor as we had such a beautiful venue, we didn’t need a lot to dress it up. I also made a lot of my own decorations which saved us even more.

Wedding Venue…

As soon as we visited Lure we were hooked! It is such a beautiful venue and stunning location. The amazing food was another big draw card for us.
