Love Story…

We have known each other from a young age, through playing sports together. We grew a friendship in high school, but went separate ways as school went on. At 18, on a random night out we ran into each other and so began our story! 5 years later we bought our first home together and a year following that we found out we were having a baby! As we celebrated our son’s first birthday in December we decided after 8 years it was definitely time to get married! We chose April 2017, no engagement, no fuss, just our bridal party and families and a big party!

Destination Wedding…

We chose a destination wedding as we have only ever wanted a small wedding with immediate family and because of this we had the luxury of doing something different. As much as we love attending our friends and families big weddings, it just wasn’t us. We chose Airlie Beach not only because of its stunning location, but because it was a place we love to visit! We have spent many holidays there and have nothing but good memories!

Wedding Week…

We only stayed three nights as we had organised a BBQ back home with our family and friends. Pre and post activities only included eating and drinking, we didn’t have time for much more!!

Your Vision…

We tried to keep to the relaxed tropical feel, but had to mix through a bit of boho. We just wanted everything to feel relaxed, the word “formal” had no place at our wedding! I wore a Camilla With Love Kaftan, with handmade clear crystal quartz jewellery and quartz crown to match. When getting dressed on the day I realised I hadn’t actually tried it all on together, but because I loved every piece individually, it just made it work all together, well I thought so anyway!

Cocktail Vs Sit Down…

We had 21 adults and 7 kids! The kids have been a big part of our lives and relationship so having them there just felt right. We had three tables plus the kids table and had a sit down dinner. We didn’t want fancy, just good food that everyone enjoyed! The Sailing Club were exceptional! Their chef did an amazing job!

Honeymoon Heaven…

Our family are involved in the Sugar Cane industry, because of that we are waiting till the crushing ends in December to take a Honeymoon. We are thinking Bali!

Hens and Bucks…

My Hens night was planned to be held at our family creek hut and then Cyclone Debbie came and cancelled those plans, fortunately we didn’t have any damage but the rain she brought left a lot of water around so we changed to my Mum’s house. It was a great night with the ladies who mean the most to me! Justin’s bucks was at a hall in town, we won’t go into details!! But as I keep reminding him, I saw the sunrise, he didn’t!

Splurge Vs Save…

We didn’t really splurge or save on anything in particular. Photos meant a lot to us, so that was one thing we made sure we got the best of! I cannot recommend Nadine enough! I am a graphic designer so all our stationery and printing I designed and printed myself. We didn’t go overboard with decorations, most pieces we purchased, we knew would be used in our home afterwards. Everything else was just chosen by if we liked it we went with it!

Whitsunday Wedding Venue…

Google led us to the Sailing Club. We met with Heidi while we were on holidays in Airlie over Christmas and told her we were interested, she then threw us a few different ideas and thanks to her we ended up with exactly what we wanted! Some water nearby, open air and the stars! After the cyclone hit, we thought there was no way we would still be getting married there, however by some miracle the Bali hut was left unscathed! It was so easy dealing with the one place for both the ceremony and reception, especially for someone who isn’t the most organised person! We are so grateful for everything Heidi and her team did for us
